Unboxing APMEX and Packaging Review

( * * To skip the intro, fast-forward to 0:23 * * )

Four tubes of silver Maples, a couple of ozs of gold (eventhough I’m a silver guy), and a “Mystery Box”.

There are better deals out there. I usually shop local anyway, for immediate gratification and building business relationship. But, wanted to give ordering silver online a try.

* Shipping: B + *
Although understandable “why”, it’s still 2 weeks. The breakdown:
– Total days between ordering and shipping: 9 (7 workdays).
– Total days the package was in transit: 5 (3 workdays).
– Total days between ordering and receiving: 14 (10 workdays).

* Packaging: B *
From the outside, the taping job looks precise and professional. I also like the touch of custom Apmex boxes.

However, those boxes were not placed properly to a tight fit inside the bigger box. I could feel something inside was constantly shifting around as I moved it. Apmex should’ve used rigid styrofoam filler instead of the soft light-duty-foam.

On top of that, I could hear the sound from the coins in the tubes when I shook the package. Talk about dead giveaway what’s inside! Perhaps Apmex should consider packing peanuts or other custom filler in each tube?

I like that everything was wrapped neatly in a standard protective bubble packaging and tamper-proof-taped.

Once Apmex deals with the sound giveaway issue above, as further precautionary measure, I hope Apmex prepares a slew of pseudonims ready in the wings that it can use and rotate as sender’s name. Because, people will eventually know APX = Apmex.

* Overall score: B*
___

* * * Conclusion * * *

I’m sufficiently satisfied with this order. I’ll do business with Apmex again. However, I’ll hold off purchasing anymore tubes from Apmex until I know they’ve addressed the sound issue. I can simply choose other items from their collection.
___

For posterity:

– The silver spot was $30.88 and gold was $1,672.60 at purchase.
– BGM: Replication Is The Highest Form of Replication (Instrumental)
– Artist: Burns Out Bright
– Copyrighted images and audio rights belong to their respective owners. I do not own them.

    – Thanks. Yep, I like those PAMP gold bars too 🙂 .
    – Each tube has 25 coins of the 1oz Canadian Silver Maple Leaf. (I’ve uploaded the vid of opening those too.)
    – The black box has a gold panda "scallop" shape coin inside. (I have the vid opening that too. I’ll upload it as soon as time permits.

  3. First Coin Company, Inc. says:

    good job!
